Corrections & Updates Policy

This page explains how recycling-centre.org/ handles outdated recycling-center details, official-source changes, reader corrections, and page refreshes.

Why corrections matter

Recycling information is time-sensitive. A facility may change its hours, close during holidays, update accepted materials, add appointment requirements, change fees, move a drop-off entrance, or restrict access to residents only. Bad recycling information wastes time and can create safety problems.

Our correction process is built around official-source verification. We do not update facility facts based only on anonymous comments, unverified map edits, old screenshots, or copied directory listings when they conflict with official sources.

High-priority corrections

  • Wrong address or facility name.
  • Closed facility listed as open.
  • Hazardous items shown as normal recycling.
  • Wrong fee, appointment, or residency requirement.
  • Outdated holiday closure or emergency notice.

Lower-priority corrections

  • Minor wording improvements.
  • Formatting issues that do not affect safety or user action.
  • Additional helpful official links.
  • Requests to add a private facility without a verified official source.

Correction workflow

Receive the issue. We review the page URL, reported detail, and supporting source.
Check official authority. We compare the claim with city, county, facility, waste-authority, state, or official program sources.
Update the affected section. If verified, we update the relevant detail and improve the user warning if needed.
Add or refresh verification note. Important updates should include a clear “last verified” or official-source note near the page top.
Consider noindex or merge. If a page is weak, duplicated, or unverified, it may be noindexed, merged, or removed instead of expanded.
