Household Hazardous Waste and Chemical Drop-Off
Household hazardous waste is accepted only on Friday and Saturday. Examples listed by KPB include adhesives, brake fluid, household cleaners, lawn chemicals, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, fertilizers, paints, stains, varnishes, paint thinners, mineral spirits, solvents and pool chemicals.
HHW preparation

Current quantity and rate rules
KPB lists a 150-pound HHW limit for Pearland and Brazoria County residents.
The standard listed HHW rate is $1.68 per pound, but exemptions apply according to residency and utility-bill status.
Who currently receives the HHW rate exemption?
KPB says the $1.68-per-pound rate does not apply when the visitor qualifies under one of its listed exemptions, including a qualifying City of Pearland utility-bill customer, a Brazoria County resident, or the stated WCID #1 Dickinson category.
The $1.68 rate applies to listed categories including Pearland ETJ residents such as Silverlake, visitors who do not pay a City of Pearland water bill, and people who are not Brazoria County residents unless another exemption applies.

Computers, computer accessories, phones and tablets are accepted. Small electronics should have removable batteries taken out and sorted separately by battery type when practical.

Appliances, Refrigerators and Freezers
Stella Roberts accepts both small and large appliances. Small appliances such as toaster ovens, microwaves, air fryers, rice cookers and space heaters use the main drive-through.
Large appliances—including washers, dishwashers, ranges, refrigerators and freezers—go to the rear of the facility rather than through the drive-through bay.

“Drained and tagged” means refrigerant was removed by a licensed HVAC technician or plumber and a tag showing the service provider’s license number and service date was attached to the appliance.
Batteries, Fluorescent Bulbs and Pressurized Containers
Batteries
KPB accepts alkaline, nickel-metal-hydride and lithium batteries plus examples such as car batteries, power-tool batteries, watch batteries, laptop batteries and cellphone batteries.
Alkaline batteries are currently listed at $5 per pound. Separate batteries by type before arriving.
Fluorescent and neon bulbs
Tube and compact fluorescent bulbs and tube neon are accepted. Broken fluorescent bulbs are not accepted.
Current fluorescent-tube pricing is a $5 flat fee plus $0.50 for each additional tube.
Fire extinguishers are currently listed at $5 each. Helium tanks are listed with no fee.

Automotive Fluids and Cooking Oil
The center accepts several automotive fluids, including gasoline, diesel, motor oil and filters, transmission fluid, power-steering fluid, differential fluid and octane boosters.
The current standard price is $5 flat for up to 10 gallons per fluid, with no cost listed for residents of Pearland, Manvel and Brookside Village who satisfy the applicable residency requirements.
Cooking oils and fats
Cooking oils and fats—including canola oil, olive oil, vegetable oils, bacon grease, lard and similar cooking fats—are accepted at no cost. Unlike automotive fluids, compatible cooking oils and fats may be combined into one disposable container.
Medical Sharps Drop-Off
Keep Pearland Beautiful currently partners with MedXWaste to accept properly contained residential sharps through the drive-through during Tuesday–Saturday recycling-center operations.

Pearland Curbside Recycling vs. Stella Roberts Drop-Off
Stella Roberts is not a replacement for normal City curbside recycling. Frontier Waste Solutions currently provides Pearland’s residential trash, recycling and bulky-item collection under the City’s disposal-services program.
Use curbside recycling for routine material
Pearland’s curbside program is single-stream, so residents do not need to sort accepted household recyclables into separate curbside containers.

Use Stella Roberts when you need more options

Bulky Items, Appliances and Green Waste at Home
Pearland residents may not need to transport every bulky item to Stella Roberts. Frontier Waste collects bulk waste and green waste through the City’s curbside program.
