Choose the Right Snohomish Recycling Route
The main County-operated drop-off facility in Snohomish is the Dubuque Road Drop Box at 19619 Dubuque Road. It combines a paid garbage area with a separate residential recycling area, but hazardous waste, electronics, yard debris and some appliances need different disposal routes.

Which Snohomish Recycling or Disposal Service Should You Use?
“Snohomish recycling center” can mean several different services. Dubuque Road handles County garbage disposal and selected residential recycling, while hazardous chemicals, electronics and yard waste use separate programs.
Dubuque Road Drop Box

Household Hazardous Waste
Use the County HHW station in Everett for paints, chemicals, solvents, pesticides and other qualifying hazardous household products.
Electronics and yard waste
TVs, computers and monitors should use E-Cycle Washington. Yard and clean wood debris must go to alternate composting or recycling providers.

Snohomish County Drop Box Fees for 2026
The County increased its solid-waste customer fees effective January 1, 2026. Drop-box garbage is charged by cubic yard rather than by scale weight.
| Load Size | 2026 Fee | Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 1 cubic yard | $30 minimum | Tax included in minimum fee. |
| Each additional cubic yard | $30 | Drop-box loads are volume based. |
| Maximum per load | 5 cubic yards | One customer may bring no more than 5 cubic yards per load. |
To estimate cubic yards, measure the load’s length × width × height in feet and divide by 27. The County does not subtract empty spaces inside the load.

Unsecured loads can cost more
Snohomish County’s 2026 fee schedule lists an unsecured-load charge of $20 for vehicles under 8,000 pounds and $25 for vehicles weighing 8,000 pounds or more.
Free Residential Recycling at Snohomish County Facilities
Snohomish County’s transfer stations and drop boxes provide designated recycling areas for listed recyclable materials. These recycling-area services are free for residential customers only.
Recycling area is different from the paid garbage area
If every item in your load qualifies for the residential recycling program, follow the facility’s recycling-area instructions instead of assuming the $30 garbage minimum applies.
Appliances Accepted for Recycling
The County accepts selected appliances that do not contain Freon or other CFC refrigerants. Appliances must be emptied of garbage.
| Appliance | Recycling Status | Important Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Washer / dryer | Accepted | Must be free of garbage. |
| Stove / range | Accepted | No garbage inside. |
| Hot-water tank | Accepted | Gas or electric units listed. |

Freon/CFC appliances are not accepted as normal recycling
- Refrigerators
- Freezers
- Dehumidifiers
- Air conditioners
- Heat pumps
- Water coolers containing refrigerant
Use a refrigerant-appliance recycler or another County-listed alternative rather than taking these to the normal recycling area.
Motor Oil, Antifreeze, Oil Filters and Batteries
| Item | Residential Recycling Limit |
|---|---|
| Lead-acid automotive batteries | 3 per customer per day |
| Motor oil | Up to 10 gallons per customer per day |

Scrap Metal and Lawn Mowers
Scrap metal is accepted when the item is 8 feet or shorter and at least 85% metal. Material that does not meet the metal-content rule may be charged or handled as garbage instead.
Lawn mowers can also qualify for recycling after fluids are drained, the battery is removed and extra plastic is taken off where practical.
TVs, Computers and Electronics Do Not Go to Dubuque Recycling
Snohomish County does not accept televisions, computers, computer monitors, cell phones, separated circuit boards and other covered electronics through its Solid Waste recycling or garbage system.
These items should use E-Cycle Washington, which provides approved electronics-recycling locations for covered devices.
Do not pay the Dubuque garbage fee expecting a TV to be accepted
Electronics such as televisions, computers and monitors are specifically excluded from County Solid Waste facilities. Find an E-Cycle Washington collection site before loading the device.

- Household sofas, appliances, mattresses, doors, carpets and rugs have specific exceptions to that size rule.

City of Snohomish Curbside Recycling
For addresses inside the City of Snohomish, garbage, recycling and yard-waste collection are provided by Republic Services. The City says regular residential collection occurs on Friday.
For missed pickup, service-level changes, commercial service or account questions, use Republic Services customer support at 425-778-0188.
Curbside rules are not the same as County drop-box rules
For example, some household plastics may qualify for curbside recycling even though Snohomish County Solid Waste facilities list plastics as garbage-only. Always use the rules for the service actually collecting your material.
Before You Visit the Snohomish Recycling Center
Choose the right route
Decide whether the load is County recycling, garbage, electronics, HHW, yard waste or curbside material before leaving home.
Check the day
Dubuque Road operates Friday through Tuesday and is normally closed Wednesday and Thursday.
Arrive early
Plan to be at the gate at least 30 minutes before the 4:30 p.m. closing time.
Separate recycling from garbage
The residential recycling area can be free for accepted items, while garbage uses the paid cubic-yard system.
Secure the load
Cover and secure material so it cannot blow or fall from the vehicle and trigger an unsecured-load fee.
Keep TVs and computers out of the load
Use E-Cycle Washington instead of taking covered electronics to Dubuque Road.
Call for uncertain material
Use Snohomish County Solid Waste at 425-388-3425 before transporting an unusual, oversized or borderline load.
